Relaxed Ambrosia Salad – Spend money

This Ambrosia salad recipe is an old family favorite. A sweet and refreshing side dish (or dessert) requires only a small amount of ingredients.

What is Ambrosia Salad?
Ambrosia means “the food of the gods.” This version is our family’s favorite. Although called “salad”, Ambrosia salad is more like a dessert and is often used as a side dish for Christmas, Easter dinners, or Thanksgiving. This version of pineapple, coconut, mandarin orange and mini marshmallows on the bottom.
- Skill Level: So simple, also known as 5 cups of salad, just five Ingredients and 5 minutes of preparation.
- Swap: Swap sour cream for Greek yogurt or change fruit for your preference.
- Suggestions: It’s perfect because it’s the best made in advance.

Ingredient Tips for Ambrosia Salad
- Yogurt/Soy Cream – Our family has been using sour cream with marshmallows and sugar. You can replace it with regular or vanilla Greek yogurt, or replace it with whipped toppings such as cool whip.
- Marshmallow – Use miniature marshmallows (fruit flavor or plain). They add sweetness to the base and the texture softens when sitting.
- fruit – I use shredded coconut, canned oranges and pineapple chunks, just like my grandmother has always done it.
